Save My Bootie(s) Contest!
Dear Readers, I am issuing forth a call to action! A plea for help! I need you (Yes, you, (insert your name here)!) to help save my bootie(s). As of February 10th, there is a stupid law going into effect that threatens to put Etsy shops like mine out of business. Please follow the link below to read more about the Consumer Products Safety Improvement Act and how it threatens to kill small handmade goody businesses like mine.
It’ll take you maybe five minutes. And, hey! Let’s sweeten the pot. I don’t expect sumpin’ for nuttin’. Let’s make it a contest, shall we? With a Big Winner! Leave the name of the congressperson you e-mailed in the comments of this post (or email it to me at sadsilver at gmail dot com) and I will put the names of participants in a hat (or comparable name-picking vessel) and pick a winner who will receive his or her choice of a)a custom pair of handmade baby booties or b)two dozen homemade cookies from the Martha Stewart Cookies cookbook I got for Christmas (Thanks, Sara! I read it every night. Not kidding).
Contest ends at 11:59pm on January 31, 2009 (according to the comment or e-mail date&time stamp). Winner will be announced on Monday, February 1st.
At the very least, sign this e-petition through the Handmade Toys Alliance. Petition-signing won’t count towards the contest, but at least you can feel like you didn’t completely ignore my plea for help.
You can see past booties I’ve made in my Sold Items on Etsy or here on Hideous! Dreadful! Stinky!
And how do I know you really wrote to your congressperson? Because I trust you not to lie to me, that’s how.
Tell your friends! Link to this blog entry! Win you some bootie! Or cookies.
