Guest Tutorial: Breezy Braided Beach Skirt with Lissa of Lissa’s Fripperies!
My first guest this morning is Lissa from Lissa’s Fripperies. Lissa likes to make softies for her sons and brothers-in-law, although it is always a challenge to make a new robot or dinosaur. She also tries to sew each of her boys a couple of button down shirts every year. She grew up sewing with her mother who got her started on cutting out the patterns and then gradually promoted her to sewing. Today she’s bringing us a tutorial for a Breezy Braided Beach Skirt. Here’s Lissa:
Hi! I’m Lissa and I am a mother of three boys. I only had sisters growing up so it was rather a shock. I love to sew for them and myself (guess which one gets put off), and my tiny niece and nephew. My most favorite projects have been an Easter dress I made for my best friend in college, a pink and bluebird dress I just made for my tiny niece, and a Ton-Ton softie (tutorial coming soon!) I made for several guys for Christmas. In between projects I also read voraciously, play the piano, draw, embroider, scrapbook, and crochet. Then there’s housework. You know you just try to get a balance right? Before being a mom I taught elementary school music (very briefly). I love being a mom, and now I’m loving getting to sew for myself a little. Come join me at my rough and ready little blog, with my little Singer workhorse (work pony?) and learn to make a skirt!
