all stitched up cell from Casa Crafty
Here’s another cool embroidery idea from Kelley! I laughed when I saw it because I just re-upped my mobile contract and got a brand new Galaxy 4 (my Instagram pics are gonna be soooo much better from now on!) and last night I was sick of myself for looking at so many cases and not being able to decide on one. Then Kelley uploaded this and it’s so awesome, I think I’m going to have to just get a plain old case and DIY it! Here’s Kelley with the tute:
Happy Holidays everybody! It’s a frantic makers world over here at the Casa, I am glad to take a time out to share my little creation with you!
but, they haven’t made one for the iphone5 yet. I upgraded last spring, and I love it, but my heart longs to have a stitched case. Lets make our own customized embroidery phone case! this is customizable for any phone as long as you find a soft silicone case.
1 soft silicone case that fits your phone
black pearl cotton, or colors of your choice
a leather needle for hand sewing
A THIMBLE (I guarantee you will want this)
step 1: decide on your image:
step 2: transfer your image to your case by tracing it. I used a ball point pen in black, and then when I stitched in black it wasn’t noticeable.
step 3: start stitching. I wanted my stag to be a silhouette, all filled in, so I did long satin stitches. It took a few hours, and some patience. he leather needle slides through the silicone fine, but you need to watch the tension. I got a slight warping of the case. Also, it is very important to keep you “backside” neat and tidy. If there are a lot of knots or tangles, this will not allow the phone to fit the case with ease.
My phone is black, this would have been a more stark contrast if I had the white iphone. I still think it is unique. I thought it would be fun to do one for a friend of mine with the same phone, and I just may… for now, my fingers are in recovery.
