Stephanie is here today to share a super cute and funny Valentine’s Day project that you can make with your kids! Here’s Stephanie:If you are looking for a non-cutesy valentines gift that even the kids can make, you only need one supply; Oven hardening polymer clay in your choice of colours and you can make these clay monster huggers!
Roll yourself 1 large ball for the body, 2 medium balls for the feet, 2 sausages for arms, small balls for the eyes and 1 small ball for the tongue!
Start by shaping your monster’s body. I grew up watching shows like trapdoor, so you can tell where my inspiration came from! Shape the feet into tear drop shapes and squish your body on top of the feet.
Now attach the arms, have one slightly higher and one slightly lower, assuming the ‘hug’ position.
Now add your eyeballs!
Make little indentations in the eyeballs and add small balls of black polymer clay, unless, like me you realise you didn’t have any. Don’t worry you can use a black permanent marker (which technically takes the supply list up to 2 items!) after the clay has hardened in the oven. You can also create an indent for the mouth.
Flatten the tongue and make a little indent down the centre and push into the mouth indentation.
You don’t want to leave your monster pal hanging, so make a little buddy and bake them both in the oven according to the instructions on your clay packaging. (for the fimo brand this is 30 minutes at 110C/230F).
These guys really love holding hands too!! Feel the love!
Make a small scale version and use as a pencil topper
