Creative Assignment: Easter Egg
On Monday, Meg of Elsie Marley wrote a wonderful post on creativity. She’s starting a series of creative assignments where she posts an idea and her readers respond with their interpretations of the assignment. The first assignment was to go into your Pinterest page and count out to yout twelfth most recent pin. Then, make an egg based on that pin. My twelfth pin was a felt Easter bunny egg cozy by MollyMoo.
Pretty adorable, right? You can get the full tutorial to make this cuteness on MollyMoo.
I thought about making an egg version of this bunny, but I didn’t want to just straight-up copy it. Plus, my egg version probably would not be as cute as the original! So, I took the color scheme and I made my eggs from that! I dyed half of the eggs bright fuschia, then used a fine tip Sharpie to make the little ditsy polka-dots that is on the ear fabric. Then I used a little bit of Mod Podge to add purple hearts made of tissue paper.
Isn’t that cute? I never would have thought to translate the bunny’s color scheme and sweet purple heart to an egg if it wasn’t for this assignment. I love the idea of pulling inspiration in this way! Thanks to Meg of Elsie Marley for the assignment and to Michelle MollyMoo for giving such a great pin to work with!
If you want to give it a try, post your project on Instagram (or post to the Elsie Marley Facebook page) with the hashtag #creativeassignmentegg and follow elsiemarley on Instagram for more Creative Assignments!
