Another baby, another lovey! I made this sweet raccoon lovey for a friend’s new little boy. These flat, soft baby lovies have become my go-to project to make and give as baby gifts (check out the skunk and lion lovies I made in the past). I especially like to make these because even very little babies seem to be able to grasp the flat toys more easily than a regular stuffed plushie, and they kind of double as drool/spit-up wipers for the parents. For this raccoon lovey, I used an old, soft chambray shirt that my husband had put in the giveaway pile, black velvet for the eyes, nose and stripes, and faux fur for the crazy eyebrows and tummy. It’s a wonderful mix of textures and high-contrast colors that babies seem to enjoy so much. I gave a more detailed how-to over on Small & Friendly a couple of years ago for the skunk version.
